The various series explores combinations of symbols from ancient visual language systems. These symbols were originally developed for use in a particular way and in a particular context. Here they can be seen as visual images of messages with encoded meanings.
For example the images titled supernatural beings are ancient symbols for aliens, symbolizing other worldly life in the universe. The message being that since the beginning of time, humanity has talked about sightings of otherworldly life in the universe.
The images titled walk your talk in conversation I and II "convey the message: express your integrity and do what you say you will do”.
The weather is a favourite subject of conversation, as we talk about the weather and the role it plays in our daily lives constantly. The images titled rain, water-dragon, water I and II represent a symbol for the environmental problem acid rain, a global issue of critical significance.
These monoprints are created by the technique of painting textile dyes on to a silkscreen and printing with wallpaper paste on paper. Coloured pencils are then added to the surface to create texture and sharpen the focus.
